Default 05' Ram 1500 3.7L 2WD - Slight vibration at idle

Hi everyone. I am having a problem with my 2005 dodge ram 1500. I recently had a bad vibration (u-joint busted, replaced both) and now, a few thousand miles later, my truck is vibrating slightly. It almost seems like a slight rumble. It will happen at idle (not moving) and seems to be worse with speed. It will come and go at certain intervals (every few seconds). A few weeks ago I had a really rough idle while sitting at a red light, I thought the truck was going to stall, but it only happened that once...

I can feel it under the seat, in the steering wheel, and I can slightly hear it too. The guy at autozone told me to change my spark plugs. Does this sound like a spark plug issue? The vehicle has 75k miles on it, stock plugs. I bought new ones and I am going to change them, but I would like to know what else it could be if the spark plugs dont fix the problem.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site

Well IDK if it will solve the issue or not but at 75K it certainly wont hurt. You need to change them anyway. Does a 3.7 have a EGR? Have you checked all the vacuum lines for leaks?

Thanks for the response. I am going to change them soon. I was told it wasnt a hard job, is this correct? I bought a universal joint for a ratchet, which I was told would make it easier. I just remove them carefully, clean out the cylinder area with air and put the new ones in with some anti-sieze, right?

As for the egr, I'm not sure but I will check the booklet or online to see, and then I will check vacuum lines and report back.

I am just trying to track down culprits before I jump in, but I will definitely replace the spark plugs first

Yeah the swivel or universal is what you need. Maybe an extension also. Anti-sieze is good to use too.
