no rear brakes

Default no rear brakes

hello i just noticed that i dont have any rear brakes, what would cause this? the pads have good life an rotors look good to not much wear. are both the calipers locked up?

If the calipers were locked, you'd likely have more rear brakes than you could stand. How do you know you have no rear brakes?

cuz i have a very steep driveway and when it was ice, i went down it and my front will lock up and my backs wont. not even a lil bit. and you can tell that i dont have the stopping power i used too.

Are you sure you don't have RWAL (Rear wheel anti-lock) brakes?

I suggest getting the rear axle on a set of jack stands, and actually confirming that you don't have rear brakes. The rear end isn't going to lock up if you have rear anti lock brakes.

Yeah, not all trucks have 4 wheel anti-locking brakes.

That is what is supposed to happen when rear wheel antilock brakes are functioning-- the rears will NOT lock up.

but the abs wont be on and they still wont lock up? and on glare ice they should, no problem with no weight back there.

ABS isn't on or off. And I believe all trucks have at least rear ABS.
