Fuel issues from Hell
I have a 03 ram 2500 and I cannot figure out its fuel problem! The truck will run just fine and then out of no where it will act like its starving. I pull over and after a few minutes of sitting it is fine. This morning I went to start it and it took awhile to start and when it did it smelled flooded. I checked the fuel pump and that is fine my next idea is a relay, my problem is what next! I also got no engine light or warning light of any kind. I appreciate any help you can give me!!
go get a mechanical fuel pressure gauge with around a 4ft hose. connect the gauge to your fuel schrader valve(should be on one of the fuel rails), run the gauge under the hood and tape it to your window.
start the truck, and bleed the air out to get a gauge reading, check to see if it matches the specs. if it does your regulator is good, if its high, low, or bouncing around the reg is most likely bad
disconnect the fuel pressure regulator, and check to see if it matches the specs. if its low your pump could be bad, or your your sediment sock in the fuel tank could be plugged up. remember to plug the reg vac line back in. (im not 100% sure if your hemi has one but most efi engines do, if it doesnt skip the step)
now take it for a drive and watch the gauge, if your truck starts to crap and the pressure doesnt move its probably not fuel. if it drops, like i said, crap on the sock, in your lines, or a defective fuel pump.
as for the fuel smell being to rich on start up, that could be the cold start injector opening to long (once again im not sure if your truck has this either)

Since you have a 2003, and judging from the fact that your username has "hemi" in it, I will move this to the 3rd gen section. All older trucks with older engines over here in 2nd gen. 3rd gens are 2002+.
