strut and balljoint problems
ok so i did some searching and couldnt find my exact issue that im having so here we go.. i have a 2006 dodge ram 1500 4x4 regular cab 5.7 hemi.. im replacing ball joints and struts in the front. i bought moog lowers ball joints and upper control arms with the joint.. i bought rancho struts. i got to the point where the strut is out of the truck .. but i cant get the damn thing apart. the spring is compressed, but i cant hold the shaft from spinning to loosen the nut at the top. quite a bit of rust up there too. i did have a hell of a time getting the lower strut mounting bolt out,, it looks worn out. where can i find the replacement bolt and bushing that the strut mounts to?
next , upper control arm is pretty straight forward, but the loower is getting to me. i cant get the axle nut off to get my cv joint out.. i thing i need just more leavrage, but once i get the nut off where do i go from there? does the cv joint just pull out from the stearing knuckle?
can i split the lower ball joint from the knuckle and just replace it on the control arm without pulling my cv joints?
thanks for any imput, truck is up on jack stands as we speek and im freezing my butt off trying to figure these problems out

Usually there is something like a place maybe a 1/4" wrench fits on to hold the shaft while to loosen or tighten the nut. As for the CV axle and spindle, those can be a PITA and especially with trucks that are up north and prone to salt and rust but it does separate. I BFH might be needed though.
i got the axle nut off and the stearing knuckle off.. changed the lower balljoint and the upper control arm , just cant get the nut on the strut off.. i need a socket to get to the nut which covers up the end i would hold with the 1/4 inch wrench .. they say there is some special tool the is used for it but i cant find it
