Default wheel bearing

I have a 2006 1/2 ton Ram four wheel drive
front driver's side wheel bearing is bad
so the garage calls me and says it is a dealer only item, priced at $230

sound right?

I just checked autozone's website... $175.00 for a Timken hub assembly... Shouldn't be a dealer only part, but i guess that's not a terrible price for an OEM bearing

that $230.00 price is about what the dealer in Pittsburgh PA area wanted, I myself went with a Timkin from Autozone this time. My truck has about 95K miles and this is the 2nd wheel bearing ont eh driver side for me. 1st one went at 45K then the passanger went close to 60K mikes. Back then the OEM was closer to 200 even for the bearing itself.

Canadian OEM price for that is about $400 (with abs), so $230 sounds good lol

it's so expensive because they have to replace the entire wheel hub because the bearing is a non removable/serviceable

Ebay for less that $100 with Timiken + ABS sensor and you put it on yourself.
