Each clip has the W on both ends its the inside end that breaks. If its reallly loose it probably already broke and needs to come out (still unclear on that part) if its only a little bit then that could just be the wear in the clutches.

This is a very interesting LSD and I'm probably going to just redesign some clips for myself rather than buy an Auburn or something. I think if you took some bar stock of that diameter you could drill out the area for the clutch disk tabs and have one retainers that could take a serious pounding. I've had eaton and auburns in the past and this is just as good, but easier to service IMO.

Sure looks like a clutch pack retainer, but I don't see any clutch packs. From what I've read, you can remove them without any ill effect. They're only needed during assembly.

I tried to remove mine and chickened out. They were secure, so I just left 'em in.

You might have to take off that bearing cap to get the clip out of there. Just slowly loosen the top and bottom bolts and make sure it goes back on the exact same way it came off. The other driver side one should be in the same position if you rotate the carrier 180*. The two passenger side ones should be similarly positioned on the right side. If the other hole is empty I'd say its already gone, it should be stuck to the magnet? or if its used maybe the PO took it out?

thats what i was thinking, but im pretty sure it was factory sealed.. (bought it with only 33k miles) I found one on the pass. side of truck, i see it sticking out but seems to be relatively tight? so im assuming this is normal? I dont understand how people are removing these with such a tight spot (unless of course there already in pieces) i really need to get this done though before i burn a whole nother day.

Anyway I can remove those two bolts? what do you mean exactly as they were removed? Will something fluctuate alot or something? I dont want to dig my *** any deeper, thanks for the responses btw im sitting on the comp waiting, wondering wtf to do

also what is the bolt in the middle of those two other bolts? The passenger one "L" braket thing that is attached to the center bolt seems a bit crooked too, should this be straightened?

It's not that simple - you have to get the spider gears out before you can replace the clips. Don't be fooled when others tell you that they are not needed - that simply isn't true. Search google on dodge LSD rebuild - site on off road I think is the best one.
