Default Looking For A Little More Info

Ok, let me tell you waht I already know. I have a 545RFE, it's a touchy transmission that requires preventative maintenance, and thats about it. I have come accross a free, junked 545RFE that I want to build. I don't want a race tranny, but I do want one that I can tow with and play in the mud with without worry. With all that said, can anyone tell me some good brand names? I have a few parts in mind like a Mag-Hytec tranny pan and Royal Purple lube, but I am shaky about the internals. I have a $2000 budget, I think thats enough to build it myself.

Oh also, is a friction modifyerreally necessary, or can I just step up to 75W90? Thanks for the input!

Try patc. They have about everything you need to rebuild a tranny and sell rebuild kits. www.transmissioncenter.net
