Default Burning Rubber.....

OK....this is my first vehicle where I can actually burn rubber. I've got the 2003 QC w/ the Hemi.
Anyway, since I'm "new" to burning rubber. I need to power brake (I think that's the correct term) to peel out. I wanted to see how "harmful" it is. I mean, I know it'll cause premature wear on my tires, but will it cause any damage to the engine? I'm not talking about everyday....I'm talking about occasionally, maybe once every few weeks or month.
Thanks.

Well, I don't think anyone wants to take responsibility for the answer. I would say no, its not good for your truck, but......... Its your truck your call.

yes it is harmfull on your truck. You take the risk of breaking u-joints, axles, drivelines, blowing the motor and so on but the more likely thing to see is warping the rotors. This is not a very good practice. I am sure that many on here have done this trouble free but I would never recomend it. I have done it many times in other trucks with out problems or so I noticed. Spinning tires is easier on the truck when on a slippery surface. I did a smokeshow the other day by accident in a parking lot where it was smooth. Just my .02 cents, DONT DO IT, its too nice of a truck.

Not to mention the engine mounts, tranny mounts, tranny itself, etc. Not a good practice for long term durability. Now every once in a while....that's another story. I would suppose it would be no different than a good launch at the strip.

Thanks. That's the kind of info I was looking for. As I said, since I never had a vehicle capable of doing it, I didn't know exactly how harmful it could be.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I know of several times I've made a left at a light, trying to squeeze through a break in traffic and put on quite a show without meaning to.. First, I thought I might have to put sandbags in the bed to weigh me down back there but I think I just have to accept the fact that I don't have to use as much pedal as I did in my '98.. LOL
