Default Horn honk while in gear and door open...

Is there any way to disable the horn from honking when you open the door with the truck in gear?

It's really annoying when you jump in the truck to move it a couple inches and just leave the door open and it honks, or if you don't wait long enough when putting it in park to open the door and it honks.

Never had that that happen with mine. Is it a 2500 thing?

That was in some of the computer updates from the dealer. It might be a 2500,3500 thing. My 04 2500 has done it seen it was flashed at the dealer, my 03 1500 does not. Got something to do with the gear selector not always showing park, and dodge had some issues with them, and it was a safety thing. Don't remember the exact deal.

yep its because the 2500/3500's would slip out of park and in to R so this is how dodge solved it with a computer update lol

in R with door open it = horn

my suggestion is to disconnect the horn and run a another button for it

Yeah my 2006 Ram 2500 Laramie does it. I thought it had something to do with my truck not showing the right gear on the swift display when I go from R to P, hove to jiggle it a bit. Mine only showed P N R D, but not lower gears.

If that's the only option I'll live with it and deal with the looks I get from people.

I was hoping that maybe it could be turned off with StarScan
