Owner's Manual, Truck kill switch
ya know I never really thought about it but the other poster brings up a good point. If someone supposedly managed to get into your truck and break the ignition cylinder and get it to turn.. (which at this point if you have a grey sentry key the truck wouldn't start anyways)... having the truck crank with no fuel is hard on a diesel truck. It's not as bad as the older ones with the VP44 injection pump but still not a good idea.. It would also make your life suck if you forgot to turn the switch back off and tried to start it with the key.. Because if you run the lines dry or too low on pressure sometimes on a diesel you will have to go through hoops to get it running again. I have helped a friend change the fuel filters on a diesel pickup and one time we had to crack the lines at the injectors open to finally get it to prime and start back up. It won't cause any damage but could potentially be a large pain in your ***
It kind of further supports what I was saying earlier about just using a starter or ignition kill relay to disable the vehicle. What you have to understand is that most thieves if they break in to your vehicle and don't get it going in under a minute... they will leave. If a thief is smart enough to get past your starter kill relay and if so equipped.. the sentry key.. there's nothing you can do to stop them.. because in most cases those thieves show up with a rollback and say peace out..
I'm not saying you shouldn't invest in some sort of security.. but to go though the hassle of trying to do a fuel cut off switch isn't worth your time. Make life easy do a simple starter kill relay or ignition kill.. I can give you wire colors for everything you need and tell you exactly how to wire it up it's quite simple.

The problem is that my truck is a stick-shift lending it to being push or roll started and I live on a pretty big hill.
Now please tell me about this ignition killing. I thought Diesels done have "ignition". Would this pretty much just tell the computer to not shoot any fuel into the cylinders? If so, a wiring suggestion would be appreciated.
Brett, I have looked through the fuse/relay box about 10 times now. There is NOTHING in there that says anything about fuel or pumping. I know that there has to be a fuse and a relay, but it is not clearly noted on the cover. A 20 minute sit-down with the shop manual also did not yeild the location of the fuse/relay.
Thanks,
T

Sorry to have missed this. What i am point out is for a gas engine. IDK how this would work or what would be needed for a diesel. If you want I can move this over to the CTD section for maybe more help.
