'06 Ram DVD/VES problems

I have a 2006 Ram 3500 Laramie with the VES (Video Entertainmentsystem) and radio will no longer display "VES" when you hit the Mode button to play the rear DVD.

The light on the DVD player flashes a number of times, stops then begins flashing again (possibly a code?). Any thoughts or suggestions?
