I bought a 2003 Ram QC 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi in her. The dealer said They only have remote starters for the year 2004 and up. Anybody know why. The dark leather interior and climate conditions ranges (-40F to +105Deg F) really dictates the necessity for one.

Most reputable audio stores carry a system that will work with your truck.

 

we were told be the dealer that remote works on the 03s without the factory anti theft package (or whatever they call it)

 

I've got an '03, no Hemi, and have a Viper 791XV remote start installed. Had it since November of last year and no problems yet (knock on wood). If you have the Sentry system (grey key), you will have to provide them with an extra key so they can bypass the Sentry system. Hope this helps.

 

the only probelm i had was when i had my old system i always pushed the lock/unlock button @ the same time to start it. i did it on the responder system , decided not to take the truck so just turned it off with the remote. 2 hours later it started , 2 hours after that 2 hours it started etc....... called the install guys and he said to puch the yellow * button and it will never do that.

guess how i start it now ??


other that that one operator error , ive never had another problem with it.
