Code p2106 & p0441
Hopefully someone can help me with my wonderful Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7L. I bought this truck used last August with 46000 miles on it. Since then I had the evap cooler replaced and the solenoid after I got p0441 before. Not the 1st time I got the p2106 either but this place I bought this truck from is ripping me off. Ive already had all 4 shocks replaced, wheels bearings and tires. 46000 miles remember. They put down on the ticket $650 for 2 wheel bearinds but charged me a $100 deductable for the warranty. Some warranty. 2 yr warranty and Ive already sunk about $1400 into this POS. What actually is the 2106? What are the con artist gonna tell me to buy next? Should the evap can be replaced again or should they rack it and check it out for free since they didnt fix it the 1st time?? Ill wait for a reply before I call them....
The trucks a 2004. Theres no liquid in those canisters is there? This is probally nothing but I noticed right after they put can on and the solenoid there was a yellowish neonish green color to a puddle under the drivers side(where the seat is) was in the snow so it was easy to see when I was pulling out, Nothing else is leaking as far I can tell. Just wondering what that was all about.....something new every week with this truck. Thanks for the help
Sounds like the previous owner wasn't too keen on maintenance.
The P0441 is a leak in the evap system and if it's not the gas cap being broken or simply loose, it IS ALMOST ALWAYS caused by a crack in one of the lines or a failure of a hose end clamp. A cheap and easy fix. The lines are prone to cracking, especially in colder climates and you can replace a damaged section for a couple of bucks in hose and fittings from an auto parts store. Likewise, Dodge uses some of the cheesiest hose clamps I've ever seen and replacing bad/broken ones with 50 cent clamps from an auto parts store will remedy this.
VERY RARE THE ACTUAL CANISTER IS BAD, IMO that's a cop-out by your dealer.
Here is a map of the evap system, just trace yours from one end of the truck to the other looking for cracks, breaks, etc.

The P2106 is associated with the throttle control. Could be the Throttle Position Sensor, but that's not too common. What's the odds the throttle body has never been cleaned? I clean mine every 15k miles and 30k should be about the max. Besides normal crap that makes it through the air filter, the govt. mandated emissions control system has the EGR dumping unburnt fuel and oil complete with deposits RIGHT AT THE BACK PLATE OF THE THROTTLE BODY. Odds are it's all gummed up. You could probably even stand to re-calibrate the TPS when you are done cleaning the throttle body.

Hey thats good stuff!! Thanks for the help. Yup them boys ripped me off Im sure. IM sure the throttle body has never been cleaned. Im bringing home from work a ultrasonic leak detector from work and find the leak. Only does it once in awhile. AS far as the 2106 goes Im sure that all gunked up as well. I get that all cleaned up as well. As far as the truck goes I love the truck. Nice paint and no dings for 46000 just the cons I bought it from. Thanks again.....nice trucks in the pics
