how do i clean my throttle body??
my truck has almost 150k miles and i dont think the throttle body has ever been cleaned? i heard its suppose to b cleaned every 30k. haha im a little behind... can anybody help me out? i need it explaned pretty in depth
I believe there is a DIY in the FAQ. Yeah, you def need to do it with those miles. If there isn't a DIY in there, PM me. I'd locate it for ya, but it's late and I'm headed to the crib.
There is a DIY in our FAQs but basically you take either a 8mm or a 10mm and take off the four bolts holding it to the manifold and disconnect the electrical connector. Get 2 cans of NON-CHLORINATED brake cleaner and spray the inside bore of the TB and the TB plate. You can use an old tooth brush or something to help. Dont spray at, in or under the plastic sealed cover.
Also spray some on a rag and try to wipe out what you can in the front of the manifold. Do not spray cleaner down in the intake as it will puddle and get sucked in the cylinders later and cause issues.

Like Weed said and I used brake cleaner (don't get that in electrical) or go to Advance and get TB cleaner made by CRC.
Here's mine before cleaning in the front, and a couple after cleaning, thought I had one of the back side. The back side was horrible, black muck. Advance, etc has brush sets that contain plastic brushes if the toothbrush won't cut it. Wire brush will tear up the coating.
