Default 2008 Power Wagon steering issues..?

Hello this is my first post on this forum/site, and after researching this issue I figured I should ask Dodge owners personally what they think in regards to this issue right?

I'm two steps away from signing papers on a 2008 dodge power wagon, it has 50,000 km's on it. The truck rides like a dream in 2wd, lots of power, shifts nicely between gears, steers and corners nicely. Now when you engage 4wd high (shifter is pretty stiff) soon as you turn the wheel there is a significant wobble in the steering wheel at low speeds in corners. This test drive was preformed on dry pavement, keep in mind I test drove another Power Wagon in 4wd and there was a normal gripping sensation but not like the one stated above.

The service department had a look at the truck and deemed that there was nothing wrong... go figure. Does anyone have an idea or know what the problem may be? Should I walk away from this truck? Thanks in advance... b.t.w. the tires on the truck are new and are stock size

Welcome to the forums! I'm sure someone with a PW or a 2500 will chime in with the info you need. Lots of great people here with plenty of great information.

You didn't have the front locker engaged, did you? That would make for some excessive jerking while turning on dry pavement.

Yeah my first thought was 4wd binding since you were turning on payment and then saw you felt a difference in another truck. Perhaps the locker was engaged? Maybe the 4wd wasn't totally engaged either? Sometimes backing it up about 20ft after engaging helps.

Thanks for the welcome... The truck was just in 4wd high, none of the lockers were engaged. I'm going to the dealership in an hour and will be taking it for a test drive with the shop foreman so he can see what i'm talking about. I'll try backing up 20 feet and see what that does, you never know. The Truck is still under warranty, you would think that the dealership would be motivated to find and fix the issue so they could make a sale? Wish me luck, I'll keep posted with the result of my test drive today.

I just got back from the dealer after taking the truck for an extensive test drive. The steering issue has been solved, the shifter was jammed between 2H + 4H. After figuring that out, the rest of the test drive went well. I am now a proud owner of a 2008 power wagon, I traded in my 2008 ram sxt and paid out the difference on the trade. I'll post a picture of it sooner that later, thanks for the feed back.

Front and rear lockers, 4.56 gears, 285 BFG A/T's, hidden 12,000 lb winch, electric sway bar disconnects, 2" of lift (over a stock 2500/3500) with Bilsteins, etc. etc.... all from the factory... with a full warranty.

Yeah, you heard right!
