Question Alarm and/or Gear Gauge

2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Randomly when I put my gear shifter back into park from drive, the alarm will sound, my hazzards blink, etc. and it acts like it's not in park because the gear indicator is not in the park position. It appears to be in reverse (judging from the visual of the cluster), but it's not in reverse because the truck won't move anywhere when gas is applied. Sometimes all of the different gears on the cluster will blink with squares around them. Anyway, my question is why does the alarm sound and the cluster act crazy like that? Also, is there a way I can just disconnect my alarm?

Welcome to the site. As said above, come check us out in the Dodge Ram section. In the meantime, click on the link in my signature to download the 04 Srvc Man and see where/how to disconnect the stock security system. I wouldnt really call it an alarm BTW.
