Need Help
I already posted in the CTD section but here it goes. I am looking at a 2006 2500 Regular Cab ST 4WD 5.9L. Are there any known body/suspension issues I should be looking for? Does the price seem fair? Here is a link. Thanks in advance guys. http://burrittmotors.vinmanagersites...spx?ID=6406894
I saw a comparable one a couple weeks ago at my local dealership was an '06 CTD 4x4, a little higher mileage like 71k but a QC and the price on the window was $24,995. I often stop by there just to BS as I play some golf with the general sales manager, so I often peruse the lot. So I'd say the price for the RC is in line especially since prices tend to be higher up yonder.
As far as common issues, the 5.9 CTD is SOLID, big time. Not a big fan of the new 6.7 and all the emissions crap with it. Tough to find a cherry 5.9 around here and if I was in a little better financial shape at the moment I'da probably seriously thought about the one I saw down here.
Ball joints, hubs and other front end components tend to be iffy, but the axles are pretty solid. Aftermarket ball joints, etc. that are greasable usually do the trick. Trannies have come a long way with the 3rd Gens and are at least in the same league with Ford and GM 3/4 tons now. Just like the 3/4 ton Fords, death wobble can be an issue, but they pretty much have that pinpointed to the steering box and there are inexpensive 3rd party solutions now.
With that mileage, in good condition, I'd see if I could get them down a bit and then jump on it if it were me...

Looks like a decent truck for the miles. Just take a good look at the balljoints etcl... on the front end, the CTD is heavier than the Hemi's and usually the first things to wear are the front end components.
