Default Tires and Ride Quality Question

Well, its that time break out the check book and buy new tires. Right now i have Pro Comps 35x13.5x20s. I like the look of my "pavement queen" but am i lossing ride quality because of the size of rim? Would I be better of buying a set 17s or so with the new tires? Would the increased sidewall on the smaller rim really make that much of a difference? I understand the off road guys use the smaller rim for more sidewall for less tire pressure, traction, and all the other stuff. Calling all experts. I have to drop a chunk of change for new tires so if buying smaller rims for a better ride quality is worth it, then i would rather do it now.

THanks,

JB

Bigger the rim and thinner the tire the more bumps you feel.

yes, to some degree. It's crucial to have as much sidewall as possible for off-roading, not just for ride quality but to be able to air down for a bigger footprint. The advantage on pavement isn't as great, but Yes, the added sidewall will absorb bumps better...
