I had no idea 2006 and up dodges had a lifetime powertrain warranty!!! I got totally stoked when I read that!!! Unfortunetly, I googled, and found it's only applicable to the original owner. Now totally deflated!!!

Mine has been leaking there for a few years. Since fairly new actually. Loses half a quart every 4k miles. I just check it every two weeks anyway. I should probably get on that since Im keeping her until she fails completely.

Default Oil leak coming from the top rear of engine

Hello, any ideas on where oil could be coming from would be appreciated. I've ruled out oil pan rear main seal head gasket coil packs, intake gasket and valve cover gasket. I have taken an inspection mirror behind the top of the motor and there is oil present. Oil seems to be running down both sides of engine and collecting on the bottom of bell housing. I know this is a dodge forum. But the truck is a 2007 Chrysler aspen. 5.7

MDS solenoids leaking it sounds like. They are under the intake manifold, if you don't have mds then its the plugs for the mds leaking.

Hi Eric250es,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Default Rear Main Leak (Repost)

I also have a 2008 5.7 and it had the same thing going on, thought it was rear main seal, I had it in the shop 5 times and had to file a complant with Dodge, ( which effect the dealerships CSI rating and they do not like for there rating to go down) (CSI/customer satisfaction index), once they pulled the trans they found that it was not the rear main but there is 2 allen head plugs up on the back of the block that were loose and did not have thred sealer on them from the factory, they put sealer on them and no more problems. Hope this helps, Good luck!

P.S. It is covered under warranty!

Yes you do, but its a great chance to permatex your intake manifold to help seal it permanently against the bad cowl design of the aspen & durangos of letting rainwater & car wash water sit on head surface and get sucked in by bad seals.

Get new intake gaskets and use some permatex to help them seal and keep all water out of intake, many durango and aspens have hydrolocked & threw rods due to this, so change your seals and feel confident about driving it once more

Thanks for the advice. I ordered solenoids and gaskets. I'll pick up some permatex today. I'll let you know how I make out.

Awesome! Good luck with it. These motors are pretty tough and after you do that you should have years of hassle free service out of it.
