Default Ball Joint

So I'm currently working on installing the Bilstein Leveling kit and matching rear shocks (rear took 2 mins each) and have come across a snag regarding the front ball joint. All the directions I've read for the installation of the front shocks is I should remove this while doing the install.

Has anyone done this without removing them?

At 55,000 miles, would it be worth replacing the ball joint while I'm in there working on the shocks anyways? If so, would anyone know a part number?

Should I buy a press to have them removed or does anyone have any recommendations to pulling them out?

If anyone has any additional they would like to share, please do.

Thanks!

Yes you can do this without removing ball joints, but if you are goin to remove them you will want a press, some good info on here about changing them out. You will need a spring compressor as well for your front springs

With the bilstiens and possibly bigger tires, you could wear through them. I replaced mine. I found it easier to bring the lower control arms to an alignment shop and get them to press the old ones out and new ones in for $20.

I tried a ball joint press and they wouldn't budge. It would save an hour to go ahead and do em, just see how loose yours are. They are $65/each so its not worth just throwing away good ones

Thanks for the information guys! Any idea on a part number for these in the case I do replace them?

Matt that's good stuff, I'll work on doing the kit now and if it comes down to it, I'll have my allignment shop do the replacement.
