Default auto trans. rtv

I'm going to be changing the filters and fluid in my 05 1500 qc hemi 4x4 and from what I understand is that the pan it sealed with rtv instead of a gasket .The question is should I use some sort of special atf resitant rtv or will the permatex ultra black that i have already work just fine?

Black Permatex will work fine. Obviously let it cure before cranking the engine as you dont want any of it getting sucked into the filters or trans

You can use Permatex 1-Minute. Most auto stores have them. They produce the best gaskets ever. You can run a bead, torque down, and fill and drive away immediately. Transmission, rear-end, intake manifold...etc. I've used the stuff on almost everything and it's held up great.

I just used a very thin smear to hold the gasket in place while I put the pan back on.

Just did my filters and a mag-hytec pan. smeared rtv on both sides of the gasket and bolted it back up. One week, no leaks!!

Last time I did mine it was winter, it didn't want to seal in the cold. Had to do it again shortly afterward.
