New Ram Owner
Yes, today I decided to grab life by the horns. Decided to do away with my itty bitty Saturn SC2, and bought a Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x2 with the 4.7L V8. Didn't get many of the "bells and whistles", since I figured aftermarket would be a little cheaper, and then I don't have to pay for it over the next 6 years.
I've never owned anything but a car, so what are some more common goodies that I should be looking at? I already want:
Side Step Bars
Bed Linear
Bed Cover/Shell
For the Linear, I'll probably take it over to Ziebart and get the Rhino Linear. How hard are the step bars to DIY? Can a person who basicly knows to keep gas & oil every 3000 miles install them? As for the Cover, probably going to do a hard one, but that will most likely wait until Christmas.
Obviously I didn't buy the truck for the gas milage, but comming from a car I'd like to know some ways to maybe improve a couple MPG. I've read about chips and programmers that can boost performance. Does something like that void the warranty? Is it something that can be put in DIY? Does exhaust factor in as well? If it does, what is a system that sounds and performs well, but isn't abnoxious sounding? I don't mind a little tone, but I don't need people 5 blocks away knowing that I am going.
TIA!

Really? That easy? No special tools or anything like that? What are some other things that are fairly easy to install yourself? Just from some quick reading this morning, depending on which Bed Cover I go with, those can be installed fairly easily.
