Default e-fan controller question

ok im putting an black magic fan on my truck and have a question about the controller. i have a 180 tstat and was wondering if i should get a adjustable controller and set it for on at 180 and off at 170 or just get a controller that automatically turns on at 180. or is there a different temp i should have it turn on at?

Mine is set to kick on at just below the old "normal" (just under half).

Bear (member here) bought the 180 Extreme and broke the probe when he installed it. Bob at Moe's sent him another one for free, but in the meantime he didn't want to wait to finish the install and couldn't buy just the probe at his local auto parts store, so he bought the controller with probe kit at Autozone (I think it was) for something like $29.99 and it turned out to be the EXACT same controller and probe that Flex-a-Lite supplied with the fan, so maybe you could pick up the controller at an Autozone and have the same one that came with it...

Not likely you'll be able to get that accurate. What I did was let the truck warm up until it was at the old "normal". Then I turned the control until the fan came on and continued a tiny bit.

I have mine coming on right about when the thermostat opens, or as close as I could get to it. I also have a 180* t-stat...
