need suspension help, 07 1500 4x4 qc
Truck has 59k on the clock, already had the front shocks replaced at the dealer a while back bc both shocks were blown. My problem is the suspension is so "plush" feeling and feels like the truck is bouncing all over the place. Going around a bend on the freeway and i hit a small bump it feels like the truck literally bounces off the pavement and jumps over a lane, why is this happening? Are the front shocks too soft for the weight of the truck, would some better off road type shocks fix this problem, or stiffer sway bar? My truck has the independant front suspension and the coils look like they're attached to the shocks, would i have to buy a coil over shock, or do the shocks separate from the coils. Any links u guys could provide would be great. Would this be a very hard task to accomplish by myself? Love the truck, but just feel like the suspension is waaay too soft sometimes, almost seems like it got worse after the dealer replaced the oem shocks
'06+ Ram 4x4s are indeed coil overs and yes, the coil is separate from the shock. Get you a good set of shocks on the truck. Nitrogen based shocks would be better than hydrogen based. Nitrogen, at .072 lbs/cu. ft vs. hydrogen at .005 lbs./cu. ft. is much more dense and would result in a much firmer shock.
ProComp ES9000s, Rough Country Nitro and Skyjacker Nitro series shocks are all made by Tenneco (parent company of both Rancho and Monroe) and are good, inexpensive shocks.
For more top of the line shocks, you can go ProComp MX-6 or Rancho 9000s (both adjustable for firmness, the Rancho's can even be adjusted from inside the cab), or a Bilstein 5100 series shock...

So if i just upgrade to a higher quality shock and use the stock coil it will give the truck a mich firmer ride? Is it difficult replacing the shocks with the coil on them? Do u need a coul spring compression tool or can u just unbolt the lower half of the shock and slide the whole assembly out the bottom of the truck
you have to use a spring compressor to get the shocks out. Some guys just use the rent-a-tool from the local parts store, some opt for the pro route and have them swap the springs, or just do the whole job.

I had the exact same problem with my '07 QC 4x4. I took it to the dealer 4 times under warranty and the never replaced the shocks. Just said they couldn't feel it and finally replace the rack and pinion. I just put a set of Bilstein 5100's on it and leveled the front and the problem is gone. I just had a local shop install mine.
I have the same problem with my 08 QC 1500...I feel like the rear is so stiff so i put airbags in the back and run air in them all the time but it didnt help much, It jumps around everytime i hit a bump in the road and with some bumps you can hear the tires land and squeal...
Lately at stops it has been shaking to, It goes perfectly straight down the road but as i break if i let go of the steering wheel it will rock left to right. and you can feel it.... Im not sure if its the shocks or not.
