grinding

Default grinding

2004 dodge ram 2wd 3.7
it has a grinding noise in the front of the truck when running and it goes alittle after i shut it off any ideas?

I think you'll have to get under it or look around under the hood to see if you can spot anything more specific than under the hood, maybe your fan is hitting something.

it sounds like its coming from the fan and theres nothing hitting it

Water pump bearings? The fan is hooked to a pulley that is attached to the water pump. It will have a grinding sound like that when it goes. It may also be the alternator which sits near to the waterpump/fan area up on the engine. It could be hard to differentiate the location of the exact noise since they are close. Mike
