I bought my '02 1500 4.7L SLT 4x4 last year as a project truck. It has a lot of electrical problems (posted in another thread). Anyway, the previous owner told me when I bought it that he had the engine replaced. I'm almost positive he said he replaced it with an '05 (can't be certain after this long). Can someone tell me what I can look for to identify which engine I actually have? I can't find and numbers on the block other than "1384" that I found on the passenger side laying on the ground looking up. Is there an obvious place that I haven't looked? I've looked everywhere online and can't find any information on casting numbers for anything above year 2000.

 

Get the number off the engine block and get it looked up at a dealership or something. The number you got might be it, not sure though
