Default Question about fuel (octane)

in about 5 weeks i´ll receive my long awaited ram 1500 (2005,hemi,qc,4x4,laramie).
due to the fact that i live here in austria and trucks are not that common (maybe 4-5 dozen all over austria) i got
a question about the octane: we only have 91 octane, 95 and 100 available at gas stations - what octane would you
suggest for my new truck?

If I recall, Dodge recommends 89 octane. Y'all correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct, 89 is the recommended octane for OPTIMAL performance.

Since you cant get 89 in austria, i gues you should go with the 91. Hopefully it doens't cause any pinging. If it does your goign to have to come up with a creative solution.

I thought it was 87

My bad from 5.7 and up recommended is 89.

If it pings with 91 octane, there's a problem.

IIRC they measure octane differently over in Europe. You might consult your owner's manual. Over here it's the mid-grade, you may want to run mid-grade over there too.

fischputza,

I drive a 1500 hemi in the netherlands it drives well on 91 and 95.
For the last 20.000km i put in a LPG system(butan/propan gas system 110 octan)
The car drives good and the LPG price is much cheaper 0,36 euro/Liter.

I am curious about your propane upgrade. Please post a link or shed some light on this system?

Here is a link to Prins gas systems.

http://www.prins-lpg.com/en/prins/

I have the VSI system for the 5.7 hemi now 1 jear ,it delivers the same power as regular fuel.
We pay in the netherlands now 1,40 euro for 1 liter(1/4 gallon) regular fuel,so it's 6$ a gallon.
For 1 liter LPG (propangas) we pay 0.37 euro ,thats 1,70$ a gallon.
