1500 4x4 front grinding noise???
I have a 2004 ram 1500 4x4 and noticed a low grumbling and grinding noise in the front wheels, at first I heard it when turning right off a freeway exit ramp, then it was noticable even going straight, My friend thought it was wheel bearings/hub, so we changed the passenger side, since it had play when we shook the wheel at 3 and 9 oclock, but no play when shook from 12 and 6 oclock, so we get the new hub put on the passenger side, and take it for a test drive, no sounds and drove great, so I thought it was fixed, the sound came back exactly the same after a longer test drive after 3 miles, or until it got up to temp, and today when I drove it back to another mechanic, it was loud even when first starting it up this morning! it sounds like a bad brake pad, screeching kind of noise and when you hit a small bump in road, you can hear a low kind of grumble kick in for about a minute or so then that noise goes away, but the screeching noise is still present at all times, BTW, we have checked the pads and calipers, and they are fine, it just makes the same sound as a completely worn down pad. The mechanic thought it may be a CV joint, but wasnt sure, so anyone have anything similar happen to their rams? Thanks
