Default Wheel backspacing

ok i know i know another wheel back spacing question...i am just curious if there is a way to measure the back spacing without taking the tire off of the rim and measuring. the rims came with the truck so i have no idea on a part name/number. i simply know they are american racing 20's. i have my 6 inch rough country lift purchased and collecting dust i am just waiting to save up more money to get the tires done too. for the lift a 4.5 back spacing is required...so how do i know if my current set up will work? im really not in the mood to have to buy new rims as well.
