Default Rattling noise from transmission

I posted this before but under another subject.

I only have 600 miles on it and the tranny is making a rattling noise. It also hits like a bump when shifting gears. Is this normal? is this the breaking period? I have been reading horror stories about people with their Rams and transmission problems. Again if anyone knows about this please reply. I dont want to get screwed like other people have.

If you are speaking of the noise it makes when you are going from park to drive as an example. It's normal. Now if you're hearing this as you are shifting manually going down the road and it really sounds like grinding metal, it's time to be concerned.

I am sorry. I should have specified. I have a 2005 DR 1500 V6 6M.

I haven't heard any problems with the manual transmission. I've never driven a Ram with a manual, but I've owned other pickups where the linkage on a manual transmission would rattle. If it's not normal for the rams, could be many things. (Clutch throwout bearing, clutch fork, broken transmission mount)

Is this your first manual transmission? If so, the bump may be normal and associated with the way you are letting out the clutch. An automatic has automatic clutches that allow the transmission to slip for smooth shifting. The clutch in a manual is controlled by your foot and will engage hard if you don't feather it a little.

Thanks for the info. I have been driving manual for the past 12 years with 3 different cars. This is my first truck. I have managed to slowly get the clutch out in order to avoid the thump/thud, but nothing. It happens once in a while and also when I disengage to neutral towards a red light I hear it, I mean its neutral! and still makes the noise.
I am taking in it today after work, since I notice it more when the engine its hot.

The rattle may be the throwout bearing. Sometimes they are a little noisy.

My guess would be the throw out bearing as well. A little well placed grease can cure that right up. Had this problem with the TOB sticking in my old manual truck.
