Not happy with NAV/CD player in my Ram
I recently had the dealer install a RB1 Nav/radio/CD player in my Daytona Ram (replacing the stock radio/6 disc CD player/changer). I was assuming the new unit (RB1) would be better than the first but it turns out this POS will not do NAV and CD at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like I need to get the multi disc DVD/CD player and changer. The dealer says tough titty on their doing it even though that was the assumption I would have a unit comparable to my old one. So I want to get the Mopar unit that goes with the NAV radio (Model # P05094033AA). It looks like it should fit in the cubby hole on the center dash panel (just under the heating/cooling controls). How easy is it to remove the center panel cover without damaging it? Has anyone done this? Also how difficult would this installation be?
I am quite peeved right now with the dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about the installation, but the center bezel comes off real easy. Basically one screw where the coat hook is and then pop it off.

I am sorry you are not happy with your purchase. Before you go and buy another unit, do some research on Crutchfield, or Amazon even, and get others' reviews on the product you are thinking about buying. You can usually find a better deal than Crutchfield or Amazon somewhere else, but they are a good research tool.
There really isn't an aftermarket NAV system that fits perfectly in the Dodge. You either need the ones that have a pop out screen, or get a double din one and modify the dash (extensively I assume). So the Mopar one is the nicest as far as integration. I am facing the same dilemma. The Pioneer AVIC-D1 I think is a fine touch screen double-din unit, but it doesn't fit...
I am going to take that bezel off, hopefully not breaking the magic tabs off in the process. I have no idea what that 'tool' is either. Probably a thin pry bar of some sort.

You don't need the tool to get the bezel off. Remove the screw over the hook and give it a slight tug on the corner then work your way around with your fingertips. It'll pop right out. Don't worry too much about breaking a clip, they are pretty stout.

I actually researched putting in an AVIC-DI in my '04. The unit is available on ebay with the XM tuner for around $1350. The guys over at Circuit City said they could put my NAV in for an extra $25 since I didn't buy it there. Looks like about $250 for installation INCLUDING custom fiberglass work on the dash. Installer said it would fill the top section of the dash and look like it was suppose to be there. He suggested I go to Dodge and get a trim piece ahead of time and bring it in so they can do the fiberglass work a day or two before the actual unit install. Just need a spare $1700
Sounds like Lateral-G didn't do his research before buying. The RB1 information states it requires the DVD to be used while operating the nav system. The RB4 does not. Another big difference is the RB4 doesn't have a map while the RB1 does.
I got my RB1 off of eBay and I am very happy with it. Took less tha an hour to install.
One eBay site has the RB4 for $600.
I'd rather not get lost than listen to a CD.
