Exhaust System
I highly recommend the flowmaster 40 series single in dual out. I had mine dumped about 2 foot from the rear axle, no extra pipes or anything. It has an amazing sound, I set of car alarms every where I go. People constantly ask me what I've got under the hood, I'm always getting compliments. Great price for incredible results. TEX, I got an email back from a magnaflow rep and he says that a single in dual out gives a weak sound and less power than going with a single in single out. Do you really see and hear a difference?
Hell yeah I noticed a diiference. My exhaust doesn't run all the way out the back for one simple reason. I still take my truck off-road out in the country, so pipes out the rear would eventually bend and become loose. Single in dual out doesn't have a weaker sound. I'll take my flowmaster 40's over anything magnaflow could offer. The difference I saw was mainly on the temp gauge. The engine is running roughly 10-15% cooler now. I also noticed improvements on torque and horsepower. It's not dramatic, but I could tell it was there! Allowing the engine to breat better will always increase you Torque HP and MPG. It's up to you on the brand you choose. I personally recommend Flowmaster 40 series, I would call the reps bluff and tell him to prove it
Dont get me wrong, I want the super 40's, but I dont want to loose low end torque and power. Again its a V6 not a V8, so if there too much space then there is not enough back pressure, so I hear. The reason I want the dual is because of the look out the back. If you say the opposite and you speak from experience, then I would reconsider the dual out and maybe not running it out the back, maybe half way and bend down. I will research some more. Thanks TEX.

I appreciate the links...I just got to thinking how incredibly loud it was at the Phoenix International Raceway the last time the Nextel Cup came through. Makes be balk at the claim that not having enough back pressure depletes horsepower.
Back pressure is Definitely needed for Torque. Not for Horse power. Trucks need torque for towing... Nascar runs high rpm where they need all the free flow they can get... If you run High RPM and just want to go fast without towing then No Back pressure needed. I personally think the catalytic converter has enough back pressure for any stock truck's needs....
An exhaust system won't make you lose torque, that is a fib (unless you put something that doesnt belong like 4" exhaust on a n/a fourbanger). It may make you lose LOW END torque though, the torque is still there and there is probably more of it than before, it is just at a higher RPM. If you tow stuff you will be fine, if anything you'll be better off. If you just change the muffler you will see very little difference (unless the ram muffler is uber restrictive). If you get rid of the cat then you may have to worry about towing because the torque curve will be much different.
