Default Clip/Latch broke off sliding rear window-options?

Just bought my brother's '03 2500 and noticed the clip or latch that locks the sliding rear window to the fixed part of the rear window is missing. The piece that holds the latch is still attached to the sliding window and the piece that the latch should lock on is still attched to the fixed rear window. It looks like something broke off of the lower half of the piece still on the sliding rear window such that I could not puchase just the latch part because it would not stay in place.

I suspect I should have a glass shop remove the piece still on the sliding window and replace it with a new piece + latch assembly. Also found, via search, I could replace the entire window for around $120 (?). Might be a bit of a wash between the two options.

Any other suggestions?

If your just worried about people breaking in then you can get a piece of dowel rod and use it as a stopper to keep the windows from being opened from the outside.
