Default Trans Issue

I have a 2004 5.7 that seems to be having some transmission problems. I bought the truck at about 89,000 and now have 105,000. Just this afternoon I was taking off from a stop light going about 1/2 throttle. 1st to second shifts smooths, but second to third there is too big of a gap inbetween shifts. I tried manually shifting and same thing but truck too about 5 seconds to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Later I also noticed while driving at slower speeds if I just lightly tap on accelerator and let off, it will sit at about 1500 RPM and slowly (Very Slowly) drop back down to idle. Do you think that changing the fluid out along with a new filter could diagnose this problem? Any information would be great.

Thanks
Mark

start with the flush and filter change, i would also check the bands and adjust if required, and replace the gov pressure solenoid too.

If you didnt change the fluid and filters on everything when you first bought it then you assumed the PO did it and youre dead wrong. Never assume
