02 sensor pigtail replacement....
so i ran into a problem the otheday, i was under the truck and realized that when igot the new transmission put in the whiring harness didnt get put backin the right place, i fixed that already but the o2 sensor connector was sitting on top of the cap and is compleetly melted, it still works for now but im trying to see if anyone knows where i can find a new pigtail for it so i can replace it all, would take it back to the shop that did the new trans but there about 2000 miles away cus the tranny blew on vacation. i know frestone can get them because i had the front replaced after i got the long tubes put on but i really dont wana pay firestone $40 to splice on new wires when im ging to have to get a new o2 sensor as well
When I extended my O2s for my long tube headers I soldered and heat shrinked the splices, been almost five years now, I ain't had a problem to date...
Well, believe what you want.... solder is actually worse than a crimp connector. Sure it's cleaner and stronger, but it adds a bit of resistance, especially if you don't do it correctly...which is what the Heated 02's work off of(resistance to provide proper voltage) Now, if you do it right and USE ROSIN CORE solder(flux core), then you'll be fine as that is made for electronics and has no acids that are in leaded types.
Cheaper 02 sensors are MUCH more problematic than OEM or Bosch equivilant sensors.
With that said, I'd solder my own first and IF there was a problem, then I would cut the solder portion off and crimp.
