Default Something A little wierd with transmission

2004 Ram 1500 2wd QC 121000 miles

Sometimes its a little hesitant on engaging gear, when you pull off only.

For example when you are parked or stopped at the lights and go to pull off it takes a few seconds to engage and makes a slight clunk noise. It doesnt happen all the time its quite random.

Fluid level seems to be ok, shifting is very smooth.

I pull my 2500lbs lawn trailer/equipment every day just wondering if its having a toll on the tranny. The heat in FL is around 92 deg

Thanks

Well, you should be on your fifth tranny fluid/filter change (at least). That severe duty is taking a toll. How many miles on the current change?

I have only had the truck about 2 months, bought it used, so i dont know the history with regard to the fluid and filter changes.

Thanks

Whenever you buy something used you assume NO maintenance has been done and you change everything. Thats plugs, wires, air/oil filters, engine/trans/rear oils, check brakes/belts/hoses, check front and rear engine/trans seals and pans for leaks, check ball joint boots, coolant condition, ECT
