Default Front bumper removal question RE: airbags

I've done a search, and several people mention removing the front bumper.
However, there is no mention of anyone disconnecting the battery.
Is this not necessary?

I've got some front end damage, and I need to remove the front bumper.
I dont' want to set the airbags off.

Thanks in advance.

2007 quadcab 4x4 Laramie if that makes a diff.

So would you rather be safe or sorry? In other words, disconnect the battery

Ha.
I guess I'll disconnect the battery then, any repercussions I need to watch out for after reconnecting?

I've been in collision for 20yrs,If it makes you feel better to disconnect the batt.,Go ahead...The only time I do is if I'm welding,I'm not worried about setting off the bags, but frying out the brain box...
