But if he's down to solid metal with no rust as he states, it ain't rust through and it's from the surface.

But you need to ascertain if your first assessment is correct, that there is NO rust from the underside before repairing the bubbles. If you've got rust-through it's a whole nuther ballgame. You're looking at replacement panels or at least some cutting and bondo repair (which isn't hard, but you don't want to use your '05 to practice on)...
Nope no rust, bare medal.i'm going to do what you said in earlier posts. really what do i have to lose?

I found some weird peeling on my hood, its like a clear plastic peeling off, i never have seen clear coat come off like that, and the paint looks great in the hole (where the plastic is missing) do they possibly put some kind of extra liner on front hoods on the 2003's or is it my clearcoat lol? i can take a pic.

This is what was under the bubbles on my truck...Dodge replaced the box sides under warranty but not without a fight.

NO that is what was under the bubbles. Pinholes caused by rust from the backside of quarter panel.

I'd go about 1200 for sanding off the bubbles and about 2000 for sanding down the finished work.

Again, living in the south for so long, I assumed based on you saying that the bare metal underneath was fine that it was water/sun damage like we get here. You really need to determine that the metal under the bubble is solid before you go ahead and do this or you'll be wasting your time.

Well today i started to get indept but stopped when i seen more than i wanted. like the poster above,i as well had afew pinholes in each of the bubbles. guess i'll have to either save up for a box or have this one repaired. not really sure what would be cheaper! different box then it would have to be painted to match or have bondo work and painting for the orginal.
