Default front drive train noise

2005 ram1500 4x4 4.7 SLT. 36K NYC miles.
Got this front end noise last week. It sounded like the bearings were going on the driver side hub. Order a new hub assy and change it today. The noise it's still there. sounds like bearings are going until I put it on 4x4 hi and it goes away. my truck is now a full time 4x4 until i figure out whats going on.
the front diff? , transfer case? I inspected the CVs and they are good.
Any ideas?

Have you opened up the front dif to check the gears and change the fluid. Also you can look and make sure no obvious signs of damage are inside. Not sure how the 05 is setup but my 02 was a PITA to get off since the cover was about 2 inches away from the steering rack.
Also you never want to keep the truck in 4x4 unless you are in low traction areas. Driving on dry pavement in 4x4 especially in turns is a very bad idea. Unless you have an AWD system.
