Default alignment help

I've already did some research on this. But i just want to ask myself to be sure. My tires are wearing terribly on the outside. on the passenger side worse. I also just had to replace the sway bar endlinks and notice when i pulled the bar back down that it sat higher on the driver side than the passenger and doesnt sit right on the bushings of the endlinks. I just want to be sure the tire wear is definetly and alignment problem and not a sway bar problem. I just recently got back from a year long deployment and before that the tires were fine. My wife barely drove the truck, certainly not enough to knock the alignment off this bad i dont think and then it just started wearing bad when i got back. Any help?

Excessive wear on just one side of the tire is always an alignment issue. It's caused by incorrect camber.

However, the sway bar could have caused the misalignment as could worn ball joints, control arm bushings or worn springs (if so equipped).

Take it to be aligned, but just be ready cause they may find other issues causing the misalignment that will need to be repaired...

Thanks. Do you know how they adjust camber on a straight axle? I couldnt figure out how you would shim it. Not that i would try it myself. I'm sure they'll find that the ball joints are pretty wore out since i havent upgraded to greasables.

like hammer said the good thing about taking it to the shop is they will tell what needs to be replaced before they do the alignment so at that point you can either let them do it or you can do it yourself and then bring it back for the alignment

you can and should take the time to download the service manual for your truck from the links below in my signature. they can help you understand how to an alignment and more
