Okay So I have owned the truck for three years and love the performance. I have a few worries on the truck though. I drive a lot for work so the mileage is at 100,000 now but meticulously maintained. I took the stock air filter off and replaced it with a k&N air filter right after i bought the truck. It ran perfect up until now. I was recently accelerating to get on the free way and the truck just died on me almost like i was out of gas but i had a full tank. I pulled over and turned the ignition to the off position than started it again. The etc light began flashing and i had no throttle. i shut the truck off again and started it back up and it was perfectly fine. I got off the free way and was almost home when it did it three more times. i got to my house and was pulling in the drive way when it died again but this time the malfunction light came on. I checked the codes and ended up with P1128, P 1129,and P1618. I've recently found out this is a common problem with Dodge and everyone taking it to the dealer to get it fixed is being told the vehicle is fine theres nothing wrong with it. I took the throttle body apart today and cleaned it, I figgured since i have it apart i might as well clean the air filter as well. I also took a compressor and blew out the connections to the throttle body. I pulled the battery terminals to clear the computer and took it for a 30 min test drive. It seems to be running much smoother and the problem didn't occur again so far. Is there anything else i should check. thanks

 

Its a common problem? Have not heard much of it on my end..phew.
Anyway i remember a thread a few years ago regarding the first two codes. It was either a bad MAP or o2 sensor. He ended up replacing both and the truck is running good and he hasn't posted anymore about that issue since.

 

yeah its a map and the 1618 is a eratic voltage code but everyone is saying replacing sensors isnt working to fix it. I drove for three hours since i did the throttle body cleaning and it seems to be good right now. it didnt die no lights came on and seemed to be running very smooth. Only time will tell. I'll keep u posted on it

 

Drove it all weekend and it seems to be fixed. I haven't had any issues since taking the throttle body apart and giving it a good cleaning. The MPG also went back up. I was getting an avg of 13 before cleaning the TB now up to 15-16 MPG. I cleared the codes from the computer and have not got another code popping up. I'll still keep my fingers crossed though.

 

Hi, im experiencing the exact same issue, i know its an old post but did cleaning the throttle body fixed the issue? It never came back?

I'll try first cleaning the throttle body, i hope it fixes my issue too.
