Default 2003 dodge ram alarm/ battery

Ok so my truck has been sitting for a month while I was on leave. Came back and opened the door and went to start it, the alarm began going off and would not stop. and the truck would not start. I then tried getting it jumped, with no luck. So i took the battery out and had it charged by the auto shop. when i went to hook it all up again, the alarm still went off. Now i didnt even know i had am alarm to begin with. nor does the vehicle have a key fob or similar, just a regular key. I just lock the doors manually and i have had this truck for 5 years and never had a problem. Does the factory alarm have a fail safe, because not it wont even attempt to click and start just the alarm goes off.
I have zero mechanical skills and my husband is deployed. So any easy to understand directions would be nice.

Well I can't help much, I don't have the factory alarm on my 02, but last month when my battery went bad on me, the red security light in the instrument cluster was the only thing that lit up. Once I put a new battery in it was fine. Maybe the factory alarms have a small backup battery (I think some alarms do) If that's the case I think that should be disconnected to reset and clear any alarm conditions in the alarm system.
Hopefully someone with a factory alarm will chime in soon.
