Thanks for the advice, definitely leaning towards the external filter, new cooler and check valve delete.

The TC was the original unit, but serviced. When the transmission got rebuilt, the shop sent the TC out to be cut open and inspected. I’m not sure exactly what they replaced or if what they did caused the failure. There’s a video on youtube.com demonstrating what they did.
