Drove the SRT-10 today
HORRY SHEET!
While waiting an abnormally long time for the buying process to conclude today, I got bored and started looking around the lot with my brother in law. They had a "used" SRT-10 with just over 3100 miles on it, black. NICE looking truck. When my sales guy came back outside to tell me they were still trying to get my truck in for detailing, I half-jokingly asked if I could take the SRT up and down the street. He looked around and told us to wait there. He produced the keys, to my surprise, a few minutes later, and with the obligatory "Be Careful", followed shortly by the obligatory "You Break it You Bought it", we were off.
I initially was a little less than impressed because I was expecting it to take off like my litle VR6 Jetta that I was trading in. When I finally got aroudn the corner and had the ***** to floor it, I was in heaven. The sound. The gravity. The HORSEPOWER. It shifted like butter with the 6-speed. Everything just felt right. I didn't actually abuse the truck. There weren't a whole lot of places to take it, so I really didn't get above 80...in a 35. But really, I only got to goose it a few short stretches, and I knew at that point if I didn't return it soon I shouldn't even bother getting my new truck, as I wouldn't have a license with which to drive it. It BEGS to keep accelerating.
I honestly enjoyed creeping slowly as much as punching the pedal. That sound is amazing. When I got back, I had to go inside and sit in a stationary chair, I was so moved by this thing. It was nice to drive on someone else's dime, but I couldn't own one.
