Default 2004 Ram 4.7...

Hi Guys!!
I bought this truck with a dropped valve seat, got a pretty good deal. Did both heads, and then I realized why the valve seat dropped... OVERHEATING. Changed pump and t-stat when I did the heads sooo I know it was not that.
tried backflushing rad, seemed really restricted. Sure enough! VERY plugged!! New rad and everything is great!

Except.

I just did a transmission service. Manual Calls for 6.5L for a service, I did change both fiters and was doing other stuff so the pan was off about an hour.

I added 6L of fluid, didnt show on the stick, added another... fired it up and ran thru the gears, checked it in "N" like the stick says with the engine running. nothing on the stick. Added and 8th Liter of fluid and now its at the "add cold" area!! Drove it for about half an hour, then checked and its between cold and hot on the sitck, not up to the "ADD HOT" area.

Sorry this is so long winded, but

Do I need to add a 9th??? Like seriously?? Ive never seen a service manual so off from an actual fill. EVen though auto tranny's often take more/less than manual but 3L more?? that seems extreme.

Thanks guys

My manual says 6.5 qts. for 4x4 auto w/ a drain and refill, so maybe it's off b/c you did the pan drop and filters. I'd continue to add until it read right on the dipstick.

Just did mine, did the filters and flushed until all the old was out, if you were to just fill it after doing the filters it will be at least 8 probably a few more but if you flush out as well to get all the old out, it will be around 17 when all said and done.
