Trailer light issue on '04 1500
Greetings. I recently bought a used '04 1500 because my son wrecked my Durango and I had to have another tow vehicle before it could get fixed. Was going to buy a new Ram anyway after the first of the year, but...
Anyhow, my issue is this: when I bought it, I saw that the factory 4-wire connector had been cut at the bumper. I thought, no big deal, I'll just wire in another connector and install the Mopar 7-wire harness (which I need for my trailer, primarily for charging a battery that's installed in the trailer). I got everything all wired up and got only the running lights... so I did some investigating and found that both of the 15A fuses for the trailer brake/flasher lights were popped. Replaced both of those. Right flasher/brake light works fine. However, the *left* one comes on immediately when the fuse is installed. Key on, key off; doesn't matter. Checked that I had everything wired correctly and I think I do... at least my voltmeter thinks I do. The brake lights, etc. on the truck all work fine.
I don't have service manuals or wiring diagrams (that I can find, anyway) so I'm asking here.
I assume that, since there are separate fuses for the truck lights and trailer lights that there are separate circuits in the flasher module for truck and trailer lights, correct? Is it safe to assume that's the only thing they have in common, and a replacement of the flasher module would correct this problem -- or is there something else I need to look at?
It's not urgent, since I rarely pull the trailer, but since I have to pull it through a lot of small towns with small-town police forces that like to pull over and ticket any little thing for that all-important civic revenue stream... I do want to get it addressed.
Thanks in advance.

The left and right trailer turn have a relay and a fuse. The realy is probaly welded closed. The relay is integral to the fuse box so the only fix is a new fuse box but first give it a good smack it just might come unstuck.
The service manual can be downloaded from this post...

There are separate fuses for trailer and truck lamps, both circuits are driven by the FCM attached to the PDC. I don't believe there is a relay involved, but I could be wrong. Your FCM or pdc could be shot.
