Speedometer calibrate
Geeze, call the stealer to find out how much they would charge to calibrate my speedometer after installing taller tires.....they quoted me $85.00- $130.00! The service person said it depends on how difficult it is to reprogram, how hard can it be and why the price spread?
about three minutes with the StarScan Tool, have used one to do it myself and I NEVER used one before that.
It's menu driven and one of the choicest on the menu and you hit an arrow key to go up or down by 1/4" increments. Yep, we're talking rocket science here...
You'll pay closer to the $130 I'd bet. The SAME scan tool is hooked up to look at codes too, same process, takes the same amount of time and one of my local dealers charges $60 to hook it up to a gas truck and $125 to hook it up to a diesel. I asked the service manager about that one day and his "off the record" answer was "people with diesels expect to pay more"...

Not at all if the tire diameter is the same, it's the over-all diameter of the tire that matters. A 33" x 17" will be just as on as a 33" x 20" if the speedo is calibrated for a 33" tire...
mine is off by 10%, wondering how that affects the transmission shifting, it's an automatic.
I know it's off 10% and could just live with it and I also have a gps in the truck most of the time which shows true speed.
