Default How much play front driveshaft?

I think I'm zeroing in on the vibration that's been bugging me for a while. At low speeds
I also hear a tinny metalic sound. I raised front of vehicle and spun the tires. The noise
seems to be coming from front driveshaft. And if I grab the driveshaft it has lots of play.
How much play should it have?
The vibration is very pronounced at highway speeds. I'm gonna pull it this
weekend and change the u-joint on it but if too much play then it's something
in the differential I assume? Any tips appreciated.

When you pull the driveshaft, go for a drive on the freeway and see if the sound is gone, if it is then you are definetly heading in the right direction.

Update. It was a seized u-joint front drive shaft. I also noticed that rubber boot in the
front driveshaft cv-joint is torn. Dealer said it's not serviceable (the rubber boot) and
for 350 I could have a brand new drive shaft.

For $350.00 you can have one specially made and stronger than the original.
