Default Pretty good screwup

I was changing oil on my 2500 last weekend and ended up spilling a little over half a quart of oil all over the top of the steering/power steering unit. I wiped it up as best I could and drove the truck to store. The speedometer decided to stop working. Anyone have an idea on how to fix it???????? Did oil drip into the housing or short a wire out some where??????
(My truck is an 02 5.9 diesel w/ cruise control)

Are you sure thats all that happened? Considering the power steering pump has fluid in it, I doubt engine oil would cause it to short out. Might want to take a closer look at the engine. Also do you have any codes?

I was working under the dash tracing a broken wire to the accessory power outlet while waiting for the oil to drain.

maybe while you were tracing that wire, you unplugged, crimped, moved another wire that goes to the spedo.
