When I did my diffs and trans case I noticed my oil pan gasket is seeping a little bit but not leaking. It looked a little tricky to get out and put a new gasket on. Has anyone done this and know the best way? I would like to not have to take it somewhere. Thanks

 

Yeah my pan is a bit rusted and I have been thinking of doing this procedure as well. I'd recommend downloading the manual for your truck from the DIY section. It's priceless, even though it is actually free.

I have not done this but the according to the manual, you need to support the engine, remove the front dust cover, engine mounts, and front crossmember, and the 19 or so bolts holding the oil pan on. You'll need a integral windage tray and gasket, some RTV, and of course the new pan gasket. Torque specs are important here, so check those in the service manual.

 

I've had vehicles that "seeped" enough to look wet but never laid a drop on the ground. I would Not waste your time if that's the case...but that's me.

There is a particular order to take it off. Follow the manual if you plan to do it, but it will likely be an all day thing for you in your driveway.
